Kristof always had a passion for eyewear so the topic of his industrial design - thesis was an easy choice.
After years in the 3D modeling industry and brief period at Hoet design it was time to fulfill a lifelong dream, a new Belgian brand.
Together with Brent, with a history in interior design and multiple startups the base for the company was set.
The collaboration between both entrepreneurs was already tested when they founded StudioO a few years earlier which delivered designs for both interior and industrial design projects.
The label’s name, Komorebi, had been on Kristof’s mind ever since he took a month-long trip through Japan in 2008.
The poetic meaning (sunlight filtered through the leaves of trees) behind this untranslatable word was perfect for the brand they wanted to create.
A specific design language with hidden details and a soft distinguished color-scheme.
Every collection has to embody at least one of the three key words: modest, simple or balanced
The current acetate and titanium Komorebi eyewear collection has evolved in the last 3 years from 48 to 208 pieces divided over 9 families.
The darker pvd colors that were always present are being completed by a new Belgian ceramic coating technique that adds subtle colors of red, green and gold to the collection.
Adding accessories, mirrors and displays, is a logical way to complete the Komorebi experience for both optician and eyewear enthusiast.
Komorebi eyewear does not want to be a head over heels crush but leave a long-lasting impression. To be discovered over time.
